INTERKULTUR presents itself at big trade meeting

In Germany roughly 2.4 million people officially sing in choirs. Further hundreds of thousands are coming together in choirs that are not organized in a choral association. INTERKULTUR, well-known as organizer of choir competitions in an international framework for more than 20 years, will be presenting itself to interested visitors at the German fair chor.com in Dortmund.

The organizer of the famous World Choir Games (WCG) – in 2004 it was hosted in Bremen, Germany, still under the name of “Choir Olympics” – is guest in Cincinnati, USA in 2012. From July 4 to 14 the meanwhile 7th WCG will be held there. From September 22 to 25, 2011 choir-related people take a new opportunity to “network” and thoroughly inform themselves at the first fair for choral music in Germany.

“It’s great to present ourselves to German choir singers and to other people interested in the choral world”, says Matthias Timmlau, INTERKULTUR Marketing Director, looking forward to chor.com. Timmlau continues: “In the age of new media, personal contact is still very important. At this new meeting point, we want to follow on that and we are very happy to be available for everyone interested. For the first time we have this possibility in Germany apart from an own competition – we’re really excited!”

Organizers of chor.com (September 22 to 25) are the German Choral Association (Deutscher Chorverband e. V, or short DCV) and Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH. More than 1000 exhibitors as well as roughly 10 000 visitors of the exhibition and concerts are expected to come.

chor.com is convention, festival and trade fair rolled into one. Some of the highlights are workshops and concerts with Eric Whitacre or Simon Halsey as well as performances of the Youth Choir of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Netherlands Youth Choir or “Fabulous Fridays” from Berlin.
