I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say – by Rupert Lang

Originally a commission by West Vancouver United Church Choir for their director and organist Gerald Van Wyck’s 20th anniversary, this piece utilizes small hints of Tallis’ Third Mode melody, one of Gerald’s favourites. Lang’s music combines chant and a hymn-like theme throughout, with a sparkling piano part and poignant violin accompaniment.
