BIRMINGHAM, UK — BIRMINGHAM’S unique Choir With No Name, made up of the city’s street people, will give local folk the rare chance to see what they can do at a summer spectacular at mac Theatre, Cannon Hill Park, tomorrow (Wednesday). The 30-strong outfit, which rehearses at Carrs Lane Church Centre, was formed last October by former charity worker Bethan Rand and conductor Pete Churchill.
And a number of soloists have emerged during Thursday night rehearsals where members literally sing for their supper. They’re given a hot meal by volunteers.
The choir's members perform all over the country. This month the choir performed at London’s Royal Opera House as part of the Olympic celebrations – and singers are improving with each outing, said 31-year-old Bethan.
