Wagner Ensemble, under the direction of Jeannine Wagner, will be making spirits bright this season with their Holiday Concert. Aptly themed “Gaudete,” this joyous program will feature Bach Cantata BWV 10, along with works by Poulenc, Gjeilo, Britten, and Tavener, and arrangements of European carols by Schroeder. The Wagner Ensemble will be accompanied by orchestra, and noted keyboardist Mark Holmstrom on piano and harpsichord. The concert will be followed by a reception in the St. Francis de Sales school auditorium.
Wagner Ensemble was founded by Jeannine Wagner in 1991 under the auspices of the Roger Wagner Choral Institute. Under her spirited guidance, the Wagner Ensemble celebrates and promotes the musical legacy of her late father, the legendary Roger Wagner. The Wagner Ensemble has dazzled audiences throughout Southern California and internationally in the performance of repertoire that includes choral masterpieces spanning the centuries from the Renaissance to the present.
