KANSAS CITY, MO — Former Scottsbluff High Choral Director Dr. Eph Ehly and his wife Jan narrowly escaped from their burning home in Shawnee, Kansas over the weekend. The massive fire fanned by high winds left nothing but a few exterior walls of the Ehly home and smoldering ash. Jan first spotted the flames around 5 a.m. Sunday and Eph told KCTV in Kansas City within minutes they were nearly surrounded by a wall of fire.
The Ehlys lost everything … clothing, pictures of grandkids, furniture, cars, college diplomas, family memorabilia, etc. Dr. Ehly was the SHS choral director in the 60's and was the Nebraska All State Choir Conductor in Lincoln this year.
