ANNANDALE, VA — As hundreds of children poured in with parents in tow, an electric, boisterous, hubbub filled the foyer of the Annandale United Methodist Church. It was the weekly rehearsals for the youth choruses of the Fairfax Choral Society. There was an energetic air throughout as delightful in-pitch voices and well-played pianos were heard. Even the littlest child sitting and learning on the floor brought a cheerful chattering air under the guidance of a serene, patient teacher.
This is the Fairfax Choral Society (FSC), now celebrating its 50th anniversary, helping adults and youth “to find their voices…to experience a transcendent musical discovery that cannot be defined, but is, indeed, life changing,” said Patrick Vaughn, musical director of the Choral Society’s youth choruses.
