Florence Price’s “Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight”

October 9, 2019 by Michael Driscoll Leave a Comment

For those of you interested in the music of Florence Price (1887-1953), please check out this recording of her work “Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight” that I recorded with Andover Choral Society in May. I believe this is the first recording of the version for piano accompaniment. If you haven’t heard of Florence Price, she is the first African-American woman to be recognized as an orchestral composer. She also wrote a number of works for chorus as well. Enjoy!
