Essential Voices USA needs experienced singers for a fantastic upcoming season. Sign up to audition today!
World-renowned conductor Judith Clurman directs Essential Voices USA (EVUSA), a critically acclaimed ensemble with a flexible roster of professional musicians, volunteers, and students. Hailed as a “world-class chorus” by The Sondheim Review, this vibrant musical organization champions vocal music and the art of ensemble singing. EVUSA performs a wide range of musical genres that epitomize musical excellence and innovative programming.
The 2011-2012 season features three appearances with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall: John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey’s Wish You A Swingin’ Christmas (Dec. 16 & 17), Hollywood Award Winners (April 13) and A Tribute to Jim Henson’s Musical World (April 14); a pair of “The Composer Speaks” workshops: vocal and choral works by Paul Schoenfield at Hebrew Union College (April 16), and “To the East and the West,” a birthday tribute to Walt Whitman with music by Joshua Schmidt (May 31); and a concert of EVUSA’s critically–acclaimed Mr. President NPR series (February, 2012). Further details will be announced this fall.
Membership as a volunteer singer in EVUSA requires more than just performing. Candidates must be passionate about singing, have previous ensemble experience, be able to sight read, be willing to memorize and to help promote performances. There are semi-annual membership dues, volunteer commitments, and some ticket sales requirements for self-produced concerts only. Professional singers, who perform with the ensemble, will be chosen by an audition with the music director or by a contractor. There are possible solo opportunities with The New York Pops during the 2011-2012 concert season. Professionals will receive an honorarium for their solo services.
