Oregon, Ohio – The Teutonia Maennerchor andTeutonia Damenchor, German-American choruses have elected Eric D. Graber to the position of Musical Director.
Mr. Graber, a resident of Toledo’s Old West End, serves as an Adjunct Music Faculty member at Adrian College and Owens Community College. He also has a private voice studio: Singcerely Studios. Mr. Graber holds a master’s degree fromthe University of Tulsa and bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, both in Vocal Performance with additional studies towards a Doctorate in Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He has sung in a wide range of roles with various opera companies, community and university choruses and church choirs. He currently sings with the Toledo Swiss Singers, Collingwood Presbyterian Church and Temple Shomer Emunin.
He will be responsible for providing artistic leadership and helping build the level of excellence for the two German-language based community adult choruses. The Teutonia Maennerchor was founded in 1867 as a German male chorus. As such, it is the oldest continuing performing arts group in the Toledo area. The ladies’ chorus, the Teutonia Damenchor, was founded in 1969. Mr. Graber is just the twenty-second Musical Director in the 143 history of the Maennerchor.
Mr. Graber states: “I am excited about the opportunity to work with these choruses. I look forward to being able to build on their long history of musical growth and development. Growing the chorus is of the utmost importance while maintaining a sense of accomplishment, camaraderie and continuing the great German Heritage the organization has established for so many years.”
The Teutonia choruses rehearse every week on Monday evenings at Oak Shade Hall, 3624 Seaman Rd., in Oregon. Members live in Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Hancock and Monroe (Mich.) counties.
