Glorious voices take centre stage in the pristine acoustics of the Chan Centre as Elektra Women’s Choir welcomes Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian for a compelling and unique collaboration on International Women’s Day. On the program is Abbie Betinis’ lively From Behind the Caravan and the Canadian premiere of hauntingly beautiful Armenian hymns arranged by Serouj Kradjian for Bayrakdarian, cello (Rebecca Wenham), and women’s voices. Bayrakdarian’s spellbinding voice has been heard on stages around the world in repertoire as diverse as baroque opera and contemporary music, including on the sound track of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
Following the performance, concert-goers can celebrate Elektra’s 30th Anniversary and meet our guest artist at a reception in the Chan’s Glass Lobby. Reception tickets available through the Chan Centre Box office. $30 (includes all taxes and fees).
