CUMBERLAND, MD — I’m going to be in the Olympics (virtually)!
A number of years ago, my mother told me that there was a website that she wanted me to see. I casually took a look and was amazed. What I saw was a combination of 185 singers around the globe singing Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Aurumque” from their own homes.
Through a technological marvel, Whitacre and his staff had put together a virtual choir. My first thought, with tears in my eyes, was, “How do I get involved with this?” So, when Virtual Choir 2.0, using the piece “Sleep” called for singers, I eagerly followed all the directions for downloading my music, selecting my part, and studying the score and the conductor’s track, and recording and uploading my solo video to YouTube.
