Cruise Blaster to Sing in Church Choir to Avoid Jail

November 2, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

PAINESVILLE, OH — Victor Murillo was facing his third conviction Tuesday morning for playing music too loudly in his car.

The 20-year-old from Painesville had been charged once in October, once in June and once when he was a minor.

Painesville Municipal Court Judge Michael Cicconetti could have sent Murillo to jail for as much as 30 days, because he was a repeat offender.

But the judge decided another penalty would be suitable.

“Do you like music?” he asked Murillo.

He nodded.

The judge smiled and told Murillo he would offer him a different way to enjoy music.

The judge sentenced him to 10 days in jail, but said he could avoid that time if he joined the choir at St. Mary Catholic Church through New Year’s Day. Murillo already attends St. Mary and agreed to join the choir.

(Ed. note: the comments to this story are also interesting…)
