The Crossing’s conductor, Donald Nally speaks with Jim Holt, host of “My Ears are Open,” a series of conversations with conductors, performers, and composers about commissioning projects. Jim asks a series of questions – designed as advice for composers – about Donald and The Crossing’s experiences commissioning and singing world premieres. The Crossing is a award-winning professional choir of twenty-four voices in Philadelphia. Its most recent concert, James Dillons’ Nine Rivers at Columbia University’s Miller Theatre with the International Contemporary Ensemble, brought accolades from the New York Times: “impressive…lush…mesmerizing.” Its next concert is November 4 at St. David’s Church in Wayne, PA: the world premiere of Curt Cacioppo’s Vermilion Vespers: Cantata of the Angels, featuring Scott Dettra at the organ.
The 2011-12 season also includes world premieres of Zachary Wadsworth, Lewis Spratlan and Francis Pott with performances in Philadelphia and New York City.
