Classical Movements President, Neeta Helms and Director of International Projects, Johan van Zyl attended the BCA 10 Gala in early October to accept The BCA 10 award. Above, they accept the 2014 BCA10 Award from BCA10 Judge, Suku Radia, President/CEO of Bankers Trust.
Paul Meecham, President & CEO of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, says, “Long recognized by many as a premier concert touring company serving leading orchestras and choirs around the world, Classical Movements has become an even more significant friend to the performing arts community. Exceptional in their generosity to the organizations they work with, they have a rich history of helping institutions across Africa, South America, Asia, USA, the Middle East and Central America. They have also demonstrated a commitment to further the art form through a commissioning program and have twice chosen to underwrite new works for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The first commission was a work for the BSO and children from OrchKids, an inspirational and ground-breaking inner-city schools program. Currently, they are working closely with the BSO as a sponsor to celebrate our coming 100th anniversary through their support of 10 composers who are being commissioned to write ten encores for performance during 2016. We think they are very deserving of the BCA 10 Arts Award.”
“I am once again pleased to celebrate such an impressive array of BCA 10 honorees that span business size, industry and geographic locations,” says Robert Lynch, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “Each year, the BCA 10 sets the standard for other businesses by upholding the arts as an integral part of office culture, the community, and the local economy. Through financial and in-kind support, employee volunteer hours, and workplace arts initiatives, these businesses ensure arts access for current and future generations, in addition to serving as successful and inspiring models of business arts support.”
Edgar Smith, chairman of the Business Committee for the Arts Executive Board and chairman and CEO of World Pac Paper shares a similar sentiment: “As a business leader, I continue to be inspired by the outstanding support of the arts that the BCA 10 showcases each year. The exceptional partnerships this year’s honoree companies have forged both locally and nationally, truly highlight the benefits of arts to business, as well as the benefits that arts and business partnerships bring to the communities in which they operate, spend time, visit, live, work and play.”
