Does your chorus or choral colleague deserve recognition for their important work? The Chorus America Awards program recognizes and fosters meaningful contributions to the choral field from remarkable individuals and choruses.
The deadline for nominations and applications for all awards is Friday, January 27th, 2017 at 5:00pm EST. All applications must be submitted through Chorus America’s application portal – CAAP.
Chorus America Distinguished Service Award – honors an individual with a lifetime of contributions to the choral art in a professional or volunteer capacity on a national scale.
Brazeal Wayne Dennard Award – honors an organization or individual whose work demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and furthering African American choral traditions and other diverse choral music traditions.
Dale Warland Singers Commission Award – recognizes a chorus entering into an artistically meaningful and mutually beneficial partnership with a composer of their choice to contribute a new work to the choral repertoire.
Louis Botto Award for Innovative Action and Entrepreneurial Zeal – honors a conductor who has been involved with a professional or professional-core ensemble for 5-10 years.
Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence – recognizes an organization that demonstrates both artistic excellence and a strong organizational structure with financial stability over a significant period of time.
Michael Korn Founders Award for Development of the Professional Choral Art – honors an individual with a lifetime of significant contributions to the professional choral art.
Education and Community Engagement Award – recognizes an organization for outstanding programming in educational outreach. This year’s award will recognize the best program by a chorus with a budget under $200,000.
Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming – recognizes an organization that demonstrates a commitment to fostering and promoting new music. This award will be given to two adult choruses and one children and youth chorus.
Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award – recognizes an organization for programming recently composed music that expands the mission of the chorus and challenges the chorus’s audience in a new way.
