Choral spectacular chosen to be in nationwide spotlight

CAMBRIDGE, UK — An Uttlesford choral spectacular is one of only 15 projects in the UK chosen for a nationwide event to herald the 2012 Olympic Games.

Three choral groups – Saffron Walden Choral Society, Granta Chorale and youth project SignuptoSing – are to join forces for Maze Music, a one-off gala performance.

It will be part of Music Nation organised by Olympic bosses and the BBC as a prelude to the London 2012 Festival and the Cultural Olympiad.

All three groups are led by composer Janet Wheeler, who is putting the final touches to a cantata that will form the centrepiece of the concert on March 3.
