Choral music director is named Edmond, OK Teacher of the Year

EDMOND, OK  — Sequoyah Middle School choral music director Angie MdKenna was named Edmond Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year Tuesday during the district’s annual celebration of excellence.  McKenna is a National Board Certified teacher who has been teaching at Sequoyah 15 years, according to a news release from the school district. She directs the vocal, jazz and show choirs.

“I never dreamed I would receive this honor and have the opportunity to follow in so many outstanding educators’ footsteps,” McKenna said.  She said has a teaching philosophy of “doing whatever it takes” to help her students appreciate music and succeed at it.
