Choral Artistry: Conducting, Vocal Pedagogy, Musicianship (July 10-14, 2017)

This dynamic team of choral/vocal faculty members will offer a week-long workshop focused on topics addressed by choral directors and accompanists in the context of choral singing. The course will include daily sessions in conducting, singing, musicianship, class performance, vocal pedagogy, repertory selection, and movement-oriented Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Each participating conductor will conduct Voices, the professional chamber chorus in residence at the Institute.
Advanced Choral Conducting – Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Howells’ Requiem (July 17-21, 2017)

Special guest instructor: Craig Hella Johnson, Grammy Award-winning Artistic Director of Conspirare and Musical Director of the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati
In-depth analysis and rehearsal of Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Howells’ Requiem. We will also explore recent research on issues of choral and instrumental performance practice in the Romantic era. Participants conduct Voices, the professional chorus in residence at the Institute.
