NANAIMO, BC — Building community through song on Vancouver Island is the goal of the Malaspina Choir’s new choral director Garry Froese.
Froese, who has an extensive background in choral music in both the U.S. and Canada, believes that choral music has a strong role to play in strengthening the fabric of a community.
“Whether it is through acts of community service, providing learning opportunities for young people and audiences, or showing the social and psychological benefits of group music-making, I believe choirs are a wonderfully effective way to build community,” he said.
