ALBUQUERQUE — A local chorus of men and women with special needs hit a high note recently when it performed The Star Spangled Banner at Isotopes Park. These singers – and the founders of Expression of Joy – are this week’s Hometown Heroes.
It was a shining moment for a chorus created just a year ago – a chorus of men and women breaking barriers through music. Chorus member Elizabeth Archibeque said, “I’m dedicating this to my father. You see, he passed away last year and we used to come to a lot of games. He loves baseball.”
From the moment they stepped on the field, all eyes were on Expressions of Joy. Fans, players, and of course Orbit, were all there to cheer the group on. “We had a lot of the people in the audience were crying also,” said Vera Kleinhenz, one of the three founders.
Jeannine Kammann, another founding member added, “Standing ovation. It was very cool.”
