COCHRANE, AB — Kids helping kids. For Erica Phare-Bergh, the Kids Helping Kids benefit concert being held at Cochrane Alliance Church on May 5, beginning at 7 p.m. serves a two-fold cause: to benefit the participating choir children and to help the vastly underprivileged members of the Music for Life School in Kampala, Uganda.
Phare-Bergh is the wife of Pastor Rick Bergh of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and conductor of the Rocky Mountain College Junior and Children’s Choir. Coupling with Sarah Drew, director of the Cochrane Children’s Choir, Phare-Bergh said the Saturday night event will fill the church with sweet sounds from the sacred to the secular.
Choosing the Music for Life School in Uganda was up to Phare-Bergh, who has worked in two of the primary school’s literacy schools for children in extreme poverty in Uganda, where she also got to meet her sponsored child, whose sister attended the Bugalobi Literacy School.
