Dear Conductors,
Using Leonard Bernstein’s music as inspiration, I recently composed an original Judeo-Christian interfaith companion to his Chichester Psalms, titled Psalms, Songs, and Blues. In 25 minutes, this five movement work sets both Psalm excerpts and portions of the Jewish liturgy in English, Hebrew, and Latin, for cantor (baritone), SATB chorus, and orchestra. Scored for the same orchestration as Chichester Psalms (3 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, 5 percussionists, 2 harps, and strings), my work is designed to complement Bernstein’s for performance on the same concert program.
I am pleased to announce that Psalms, Songs, and Blues is available for performance. Interested conductors can view the score and listen to MIDI recordings of the individual movements online.
