Canadian Chamber Choir Announces Canada 150 Composition Competition

July 17, 2016 by Corey Ticknor Leave a Comment

The Canadian Chamber Choir/Chœur de chambre du Canada is pleased to announce the launch of its Canada 150 Composition Competition which seeks to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial by promoting a new choral work from a Canadian composer in 2017.

The competition is open to all Canadian composers and will seek new compositions for a cappella mixed chamber choir. Submissions will be judged by the CCC’s artistic team led by Dr. Julia Davids, as well as three independent jurors from across the country. The CCC is pleased to be able to offer the winning composer a $1000 cash prize, as well as the opportunity to have the piece published in partnership with Cypress Choral Music as part of the Canadian Chamber Choir Series for Accomplished Choirs. The CCC will also perform the world premiere of the winning piece.

The deadline for entries is January 31, 2017.

Complete application information is available on the CCC website.
