A BACKWELL choir has been asked to perform at the Olympics.
Reaching higher notes than ever before, Euphoria Show Choir, pictured, has been chosen from thousands to perform in the stadium and Olympic Village. The news comes after the choir was also invited to perform in The Royal Albert Hall.
Euphoria, a singing and dancing choir inspired by television programme Glee, first hit our headlines when they were offered the chance to perform at a national show choir event in New York after being talent spotted on internet site YouTube.
The choir was set up by professional singer Rachel Walker, 30, of Cleeve, who also teaches at Nailsea and Backwell comprehensives. She said the chance to perform in the Olympics came after a last minute application to join the entertainment programme for the Games.
She said: "Last year, while we were still busy working towards our performance with Britain's Got Talent winners Spelbound, we heard that performance groups could apply to perform at the Olympics, but were so busy it slipped our minds.
