Hello Fellow Choir Folks! I’ll keep this announcement as short as I can, because I think the video below will do a better job at explaining and demonstrating all the moving parts of this new idea… but I’m super excited to announce the arrival of The Podd Brothers’ Virtual Caroling Kits. Also feel free to skip the reading and just visit http://poddbrothers.com/virtualcaroling
Here’s the scoop: My brother and I are both professional composers and arrangers, and like many of you, we’ve done about a zillion Virtual Choirs over the past few months, and have gotten very familiar with which obstacles can be most taxing on conductors. And we decided we could help! We made these Virtual Caroling Kits to cut out basically ALL the pre-production for the conductor or organizer for virtual caroling (arrangements, guide tracks, accompaniment tracks, instructions for singers).
And with so many choirs and groups looking ahead at likely forgoing their beloved annual caroling events, we thought that would be a nice place to try and help make things quicker and easier!
We arranged some Xmas carols with Virtual Choirs in mind… short, punchy, musically straight-forward, FUN, sing-able, etc. There are 2 medleys available (1 sacred, 1 secular) as well as a vocal jazz setting of Oh Christmas Tree. All arrangements are available as SATB or 2-part (SA). Also included in the kits is access to clear and easy guide-track-videos so participants can look at the score, hearing just their voice part (both for learning and recording their individual video). We’ve also created 2 SUPER clear and thorough sets of Step-By-Step Instructions – 1 for Organizers/Leaders and 1 for Singers. The Singers’ document is a PDF you pass on to all your singers which gives them everything they need to know, including access to all the music, guides, and instructions for their video setup. And finally, the kit gives you a high quality and colorfully orchestrated accompaniment track to use in your final virtual performance video. We think this “product” for lack of a better word meets the moment we’re all in, and will help spread some joy this year despite everything that’s gotten in the way.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, hopefully the explainer-video below clears things up. And definitely reach out if you have any questions, or ideas – we’d love your feedback on how this could be more useful if we make more stuff like this, and we’re looking forward to meeting and hearing you all!
