Anthology of Sacred Music by Women Composers

The first volume of this multi-part anthology has just been published, in the UK, by specialist Community Interest Company, Multitude of Voyces C.I.C. (MoV). MoV exists to support underrepresented, marginalised and vulnerable communities through the creative use of music and words, especially through church-music and worship, and is a government-registered not-for-profit organisation.It is registered with the Charities Aid Foundation.

The first volume – SATB Anthems – 22 pieces suitable for church and concert use, has received warm praise and has already proved popular with church and cathedral choirs in the UK and USA keen to teach and use repertoire by women composers which they might not already be familiar with. The project is mostly self-funding, and sponsors are warmly welcomed. Any profits made from the sales of the book go straight into our community project, Makaton Mass, an inclusive signed-and-sung Eucharist which we are developing in association with music therapists/priests/schools/service-users/composers/choral directors/social workers etc, to allow adults and children with learning disabilities to participate fully in worship along with their families and wider communities.

Volume 2 of our anthology – Upper Voices Anthems – will be published in mid-March and interest can be registered by emailing the director, Louise Stewart, at .

Volume 3 – Liturgical Works, will be published later in 2020, with Volume 4 – Advent/Christmas/Epiphany music following shortly after that.
