Angel fly!
Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ,
Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.
Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.
Angel fly!
“Ecce Ancilla Domini.”
“Fiat mihi secundum Verbum tuum.”
“Fiat mihi secundum Verbum tuum.”
Et Verbum caro factum est.
Et habitavit in nobis.
Angel fly!
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
And she conceived of the Holy Ghost.
And she conceived of the Holy Ghost.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
Be it done unto me according to thy word.
Be it done unto me according to thy word.
And the Word was made flesh.
And dwelt among us.
And dwelt among us.
With this music (created for my children’s choir) I wished to create by simple means a visualization of the arrival of the Archangel Gabriel. Here one may hear the sound of the angel wings (fly fly fly). When Mary says yes to God, the music becomes minimalistic percussion, representing her heart (ecce ancilla) until the moment when Mary opens her arms to God (fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum). The latter portion expresses her joy (et verbum caro factum est et habitavit in nobis) and concludes with the angel’s flight heavenward.
