I actually have a question, but this was closest category thought would work.
I have a question about hearing aids. It appears that I may need to get hearing aids. Too many people are getting irritated when I ask them to repeat what they just told me. Anyway, I want to know if it is possible to sing effectively with hearing aids or not. I’ve read some places that it is nearly impossible to do so. Anyone have any information about this question? Any brands or ricks they can suggest would be nice.
Thanks for your help on this.

Hi Mike, it is, likely depending on the brand that you are wearing and the capability of the audiologist who sets them up. I am a retired choral conductor and now a singer in a church choir as well as a pianist. I own the Signia brand; they are pretty pricey. They have different settings that you use in various conditions. I have the Universal setting – for understanding speech, basically. Also the Music setting (for listening) and the Musician setting. When singing in the choir I always click to the Musician setting. It dampens the high partials that you need for speech. No problems. When I first purchased them a few years ago they weren’t really set up correctly; I didn’t use them at all when conducting or practicing/performing piano. Recently I found a new audiologist who corrected things; my wife is very happy that I can hear conversations much better. Just last week I performed (piano) in a Holy Week service, still wearing them but changing the settings (easy to do!). It worked fine. Best of luck, John
