It is now almost a year to the day since a horrible massacre took the lives of 17 students and teachers at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. To honor those students who stood up to express their views in the aftermath of this tragedy, the Lyricist Rev. Ronald W. Cadmus and myself have written a choral anthem entitled “We Are One.” The work covers a variety of topics which were central to the protests that followed this horrible event. This is not a work for everyone as it has points of view which may be at odds with some chorus members and audiences. It is our belief, however, that like many other art forms which have endeavored to tackle difficult contemporary issues, choral music is no exception and represents a powerful platform for the expression of views & ideas.
