MorningStar Music Publishers has just released A Song of Creation [3:35] by composer Stephen Caracciolo.
The text for this short, exhuberant work comes from the book of Daniel and is often referred to as “The Song of the Three Young Men.” The use of mixed meters helps to express the natural flow of the text, and the intermittent repetition of the biblical refrain “Praise him and highly exalt him forever” creates a satisfying structure leading to the blazing polychordal “Gloria Patri“. Included in the Washington National Cathedral Series from MorningStar, this work may be heard on Cathedra’s new CD, New American Choral Music Series | Stephen Caracciolo, recorded at WNC under the direction of Canon Michael McCarthy.
