Just in time for this Christmas season… this brand new addition to our catalog will grace every holiday program! Alexei Larin’s lovely arrangement of Franz Gruber’s iconic “Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht” is for unaccompanied voices, bells and bar chimes. An soaring soprano solo provides a fitting angelic descant. The text is in Ukrainian, which appears in phonetic transliteration (a diction coaching track is available) and Cyrillic. Ukraine, which is the birthplace of so many Slavic carols, has widely adopted this melody as its own, adjusting it to the cadences of the Ukrainian language. Now those in the West can benefit from this cultural cross-fertilization, bringing to mind the need for God’s peace in that troubled part of the world. |
