ABERYSTWYTH, WALES, UK — An innovative theatre production
will involve the audience walking the streets of Aberystwyth.
Armed with iPods and headsets, a dozen theatregoers will trace
the journeys of members of a local choir to their rehearsal through
the town.
The Outdoors experience will take place every Tuesday night for
a year.
It is the brainchild of a German avant-garde theatre group,
National Theatre of Wales and the Aberystwyth-based Heartsong
choir.
The 25-strong choir has been meeting to sing together every
Tuesday for more than 12 years and their repertoire is entirely a
cappella.
Its secretary, Carolyn Wacher, said: “Every Tuesday evening
during term time audiences of 12 will be given an iPod and
earphones, and sent to walk the streets of Aberystwyth.
“Through those iPods, they will see and hear the stories of
Heartsong choir members along their journeys.
“There will be 12 different stories from locals that lead them
in different paths through the town’s narrow streets and
seafront.
