90 years of song

September 3, 2012 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

KIRKINTILLOCH, SCOTLAND — A reknowned choir at the heart of its town has celebrated nine decades of entertainment and inspiration.  Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir has just produced a book on its history called ‘90 years of Song’.

Choir member and former journalist Bob Tomlinson wrote the book with the help of his editorial team – choir members Bill Hayes and Alan Finnie.  Bob said: “Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir runs like a thread through the history of the town.

“The choir was formed in the early 1920s and its history reflects the changing life and times of Kirkintilloch itself.”  The book reflects – through the officially recorded minutes of the choir, archives of local and national newspapers, as well as anecdotal recollections of members – the history of one of Scotland’s finest and most highly valued male voice choirs.
