CINCINNATI — About 15,000 participants from 64 countries and 22 U.S. states will travel to Cincinnati July 4-14 for the 7th World Choir Games. More than 200 public events are highlighted by a performance from Grammy-winning gospel star Marvin Winans and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra during the Closing Ceremony at U.S. Bank Arena.
The Games will kick off with an opening ceremony July 4 at Great American Ballpark. This event will be the first World Choir Games held in the United States. The games are held every other year, and will be in Riga, Latvia, in 2014. The Parade of Nations co-Grand Marshals are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bootsy Collins and Mayor Mark Mallory.To get the final touches right, 1,200 volunteers got the scoop Tuesday night on how to greet and care for the thousands of visitors from overseas.
