FREDERICTON, NB, CANADA — A reception to salute David Berry is
planned for the congregation of Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church,
512 Charlotte Street and the general public on Sunday, May 15. It
will run from 2-4 p.m.
Berry is widely known in the Fredericton community, having
served as organist and choir director at both Grace Memorial
Baptist Church and Nashwaaksis Baptist Church before coming to
Saint Andrew’s 15 years ago.
He has also been involved with the Fredericton Choral Society as
an accompanist, the Bel Canto Singers as a vocalist, and
Fredericton School Girl Choir and Fredericton Ladies’ Choir as
organist, besides being a charter member of the Fredericton
Organists’ Association.
“In addition to all this, David is one of the kindest and most
gentle people on the earth, and is well loved by all,” said Jeanne
Kaye Speight of the Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
congregation, a long-time choir member.
The format will be an open house, with a presentation of gifts
from the church and the choir at 3 p.m.
The Albert County native began his ministry by serving in music
ministries in various churches in eastern New Brunswick. He studied
at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts and also served a stint
as organist and choir director of nearby Beverly Farms Baptist
Church (now Northshore Community Baptist Church) from 1969 until
1975.
