ANNOUNCING the 2nd IFCM INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR CHORAL COMPOSITION
The IFCM is excited to announce the Second International Competition for Choral Composition – the chief aim of which is to promote the creation and distribution of new, innovative, and accessible choral repertoire. It is open to composers of any nationality and age. The Competition is dedicated to choral, a cappella compositions (SATB or divided into as many as eight parts, SSAATTBB) with a maximum duration of eight (8) minutes.

It is open to composers of any nationality and age. The Competition is dedicated to choral, a cappella compositions (SATB or divided into as many as eight parts, SSAATTBB) with a maximum duration of eight (8) minutes.
The text of the composition can be sacred or secular, in any language, and written for any occasion (pre-existing texts should be in the public domain). If not, permission, in writing, must be obtained from the author or copyright holder of the text and must be enclosed with the entry form. A maximum of two works per composer may be submitted. Entries must arrive by e-mail no later than 1 October 2012. There is no entry fee to participate. The composer of the award winning work will receive a cash prize of 5,000 euros, and in addition the winning work will be premiered by the Philippine Madrigal Singers and performed in concert by other leading choirs in over 3 continents. A special prize for a work demonstrating ‘harmonic originality’ may be awarded by the jury to one other work whose composer will have the opportunity to work with the British vocal ensemble Voces8 in an workshop-rehearsal!
