ACDA has partnered with Forward Motion to bring you two sessions from the 2023 ACDA National Conference. Forward Motion is an online learning initiative empowering musicians worldwide, brought to us by Manhattan Concert Productions.
These two sessions are our first investment in bringing content from National conference to everyone in ACDA. We hope that these sessions bring a little bit of the conference theme “A Place of Belonging” directly to you in your home and on your own schedule. Even members who attended the National conference may not have had the chance to go to these two outstanding sessions. If you weren’t able to join us in Cincinnati, let us bring a little bit of Cincinnati to you. We are deeply grateful to Philip Silvey and Ryan Fellman for being our first pioneers in this new journey to share content across all the days of the year and not just at the conference.
So, how does it work?
Using the button below, you’ll be directed to the Forward Motion website. All you need to do is create your FREE account and start watching! Don’t be concerned if you receive an email receipt. Nothing has been charged to you, it is simply a function of the system. Forward Motion has made these two sessions FREE for everyone.
The two FREE sessions available are:
“Seen. Accepted. Empowered.” Fostering Social Emotion Learning in Choral Classrooms with Philip Silvey
In this session, Philip E. Silvey builds on the work of Scott Edgar to show how choral music classrooms are uniquely suited to help students develop socially and emotionally through music-making.
Navigating Mexican Choral Music & Recognizing Biased Performance Practices by Ryan Fellman
In this session, Ryan Fellman sheds light on clichés related to the programming of Mexican choral music while providing ideas for the inclusion of repertoire beyond the stereotypical folk song.
Additionally, Forward Motion is offering ACDA members a 14-day free trial to access the more than 50 additional courses available. Signing up for the trial is not required to access these two ACDA sessions but is a wonderful additional perk for ACDA members!
