Choral Concert Live with the Baylor University Men’s Choir and the Spire Chamber Ensemble and Baroque Orchestra

Host Stan Schmidt takes you back this week to the ACDA Jubilee National Convention in Kansas City in late February and helps you recall the performances of The Baylor University Men’s Choir led by C Randall Bradley and the Spire Chamber Ensemble and Baroque Orchestra and conductor Ben A Spalding.   Each of these groups live on their own merits and come to the stage with different excitements.  The Baylor University Men’s Choir comes forth with a strong statement linking Community to their Song titles, Reaching for Tenaciously, Inclusivity, Waling Humbly, Celebrating Joyfully, Giving Lavishly, and Standing In Solidarity.  Some of the composers represented are Kim André Armesen, Adam Cogliano, Mendelssohn, Lloyd Pfsutsch, and a very beautiful melody by Elaine Hagenberg on the text “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”.  Conductor C. Randall Bradley is to be commended for marvelous programming.      In contrast the Spire Chamber Ensemble led by Ben A Spalding, founder and artistic director offer selections to help Ring in the Thousand Years of  Peace with “Ring Out Wild Bells” taken from “The Passing of the Year” by Dove; “Gloria Patri et Filio” from “Dixit Dominus” by Handel; “Many Are the Wonders” (a reflection on Thomas Tallis’ “Laquebantur” arr. By Ken Burton); “Sanctus in D Major” by JS Bach and closes their appearance with “All of Us” from “Considering Matthew Shepard” by Craig Hella Johnson, the story of a gay gentleman from Wyoming, who was murdered in a tragic conflict.    Both concerts show some great planning and give the listener top drawer experiences.
