Advocating for Our Art Form

June 21, 2019 by Chris Munce Leave a Comment

“The more visible you are in your community, the harder it is for your program to be taken away or damaged.” -Chris Munce

Below you will find a deep two part conversation in which I approach two colleagues about their thoughts on how we “tell our story” as Choral Musicians.

You can listen from the widgets below which will take you to Apple or Castbox to finish listening, or you can find the show on Google Play, Spotify, Youtube or Stitcher!

In the first part I speak with an intrepid Music Educator and Conductor, Dr. Elise Hepworth from Missouri Western State University. We discuss both the formal and informal ways that teachers can advocate for their classrooms and the choral art.

In the second part, I chat with composer Dale Trumbore. The conversation around advocacy spins more into the world of composition, community performance, publicity and other ways that we take Choral Music OUTSIDE of the classroom.
