Some Hebrew Melodies

Airing this week on Going Beyond Words and Choral Net  you will hear the tenor voice of Jan Peerce, Sounds from the Jewish Choir of London plus music by Jewish Composer David Burger.  The renowned tenor Jan Peerce, the definitive performer of music of the Jewish tradition combines talents with the RCA Victor Orchestra and Chorus from a 1960 recordings to offer three adored Hebrew melodies, A Plea to God, Koi Nidrei, and A Cantor for a Sabbath.   If you do not know the voice of Jan Peerce whose brilliant Tenor sound set the world on fire, this is a chance to hear his appreciated and respected talent.   Then two selections from the London Jewish Choir, a modern melody from Israel by Naomi Shermer Al Kol Eleh then V’al Kulom by Rabbi Shaul both arranged by Clive and guided by Conductor.  Solamone Rossi is represented with a gem from the late Italian Renaissance period and early Baroque, A Kaddish or Prayer.   Jewish Composer David Burger was Born in 1950 and has written works that have changed the sound of contemporary Jewish Choral music.  His unique settings of classic Jewish texts, as well as his evocative original lyrics have thrilled audiences across North America.  Mr. Burger holds a master’s degree in music theory from Queens College.   You will hear four selections….When I Am Dead My Dearest with a text by Christine Rossetti performed by the northeastern Choral Society with Joshua Jacobson on the Podium.  Then the Zamir Chorale under Matthew Lazar will sing Song of Jerusalem, Baruch el Elyon and Mi Shebeirach (Blessed is God in the Highest and a Prayer for Healing).   I am sure you will receive a blessing from this broadcast.
