Going Beyond Words
w/ Stan Schmidt
Show 2242 – In Memoriam Einojuhani Rautavaara

This week on ACDA Radio, host Stan Schmidt invites you to a special edition as we salute the life of Finlands most revered composer since Jean Sibelius. His music employed mystical and romantic themes and he composed in many classical genres. Join me for this edition that I call “In Memoriam Einojuhani Rautavaara.”

For a look at the CD’s used and a complete list of music heard, go to the “Blog” section of www.GoingBeyondWords.com

Thank you for this tribute to a fabulous composer in multiple genres, not least in choral music. I attended his funeral just over a week ago, a warm and beautiful celebration of his life and music. May I just note that the composer’s name is stressed thus: EInoJUhani RAUtaVAAra, and that the first syllable of his last name rhymes with “now”, not with “noo”.
