This year, the Senior Choir of St. Michael’s Choir School presents Canadian Voices, its 2011 Spring Tour, featuring a programme of music by Canadian Composers. The boys of St. Michael’s will perform works by T. Barrett Armstrong, Barrie Cabena, Paul Halley, Ruth Watson Henderson, Rupert Lang, Imant Raminsh, Peter Togni and Healey Willan as well as music from the Choir School’s founder, Monsignor John E. Ronan and resident composer Tomáš Dušatko.
St. Michael’s Choir School is Canada’s premier boy choir school. For 73 years, excellence in sacred music has been the school’s enduring legacy. The school’s mission is to provide music for St. Michael’s Cathedral and to train church musicians for the Toronto Archdiocese and beyond.
In addition to singing at St. Michael’s Cathedral every weekend, the students share their music with a wider audience through recordings, media appearances, and annual concert tours. The Choir School has performed for dignitaries such as His Holiness Pope John Paul II, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
