The Orpheus Choir of Toronto, under the direction of Robert Cooper, C. Big Band Christmas on December 22 brings the Toronto premiere of Swedish composer Nils Lindberg’s Christmas Cantata, a swinging, upbeat rendition of the Christmas story with “Basie-esque big band” adaptations of standard Christmas carols.
This year Orpheus collaborates with Gerald Neufeld and the award-winning Guelph Chamber Choir to present Vespers, featuring the classic Rachmaninoff Vespers, on February 28, 2010. To close the season, and in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Sidgwick Scholars Programme, on May 8th, 2010 Orpheus presents the Toronto premiere of Handel’s dramatic third oratorio Athalia.
Auditions for both The Choir and The Sidgwick Scholars are held throughout the year. For more information please call 416-251-3803, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
