LENOX, MA. — The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present a gala concert in celebration of its singers and alumni on Saturday, June 1st, at 7:30pm. The choir also celebrates its audience members and patrons as a gesture of appreciation for the people in the Berkshires who’ve been coming to its concerts for 15 years. To celebrate this significant milestone, the featured work on the program will be the Mass by Igor Stravinsky for chorus and orchestra, and our favorite music from past seasons by Byrd (Sing Joyfully), Schütz (Psalm 100 with brass), Vaughan Williams (Silence and Music), and Pizzetti (Requiem selections).
Recognizing the contributions of present and past chorus members, this program will look back on the highlights of 15 seasons of extraordinary repertoire, guest artists and wonderful collaborations. It has presented programs such as the Monteverdi 1610 vespers, the showing of the silent 1928 film La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc with live music and King David in Words and Music. Special guests have included actors such as Jonathan Epstein, Allyn Burrows, Annette Miller, Benjamin Luxon, Tina Packer and author Geraldine Brooks among others. Collaborations have been with Cambridge Concentus, Aston Magna, Tanglewood (new Learning Center acoustical testing) the Empire Brass, Baltimore’s Urban Choral Arts Society (annual Martin Luther King concerts), and six Berkshire public schools. Cantilena has appeared at Tanglewood, the Mahaiwe and Colonial Theaters, Hancock Shaker Village, The Mount, The Berkshire Museum, Hevreh, WGBY in Springfield, and the choir gave the gala closing event for Lenox’s 250th Anniversary celebration.
Admission is $35 per person, $25 for students with ID and seniors 65 and older. Trinity Church is at 88 Walker Street in Lenox. More information: www.cantilenachoir.org. Phone: 518-791-0185 or email .

It is also a two-time winner of the prestigious Choral Arts New England’s Alfred Nash Patterson Award for unique programming.
