Looking for a cappella works for the Christmas/holiday season?

September 22, 2010 by Clare Shore Leave a Comment

Go here to listen to Clare Shore’s Three a cappella Carols
http://www.clareshore.com/LRoom.htm

Suitable  for small or large choruses, Clare Shore’s Three a cappella Carols utilize traditional English texts in new musical settings.

Performed as a set, the three songs offer contrast in style and length, beginning with two brief carols – a jubilant Joy to the World, followed by the more somber Silent Night – and culminating in the lively Good King Wenceslas, with optional solos.

The carols are accessible to the listener and are suitable for sacred or secular occasions.

— USE: Holiday services and concerts
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: moderately difficult – for skilled church, high school, college, community, professional choruses

To order copies of the carols, call E.C. Schirmer toll-free: 1-800-777-1919

OVERTURE TO CHRISTMAS: Don Patriquin’s SSAA or SATB Christmas ‘finale’.

September 15, 2010 by Donald Patriquin Leave a Comment

A TEMPO is pleased to announce that OVERTURE TO CHRISTMAS has just been published for choir and single piano, and is available in pdf or printed format.

This sparkling seven minute work, featuring well and lesser known carols, is ideal for a concert or service ‘finale’. It is scored for SSATB or SSAA (or both) and piano, with optional percussion. It is ideal for professional and amateur choirs, and has been admirably performed by children’s choir. The piano accompaniment is of similar level to Patriquin’s “J’entends le moulin”, and requires a good pianist. A two-piano accompaniment will be available shortly.

For a large pdf sample contact . The work may be heard in full with combined SATB AND SSA choirs and two pianos, under the direction of Iwan Edwards, at donaldpatriquin.com (Catalog/ SATB Christmas).

15 Ukrainian Christmas Carols (SSA and SATB editions)

September 14, 2010 by Sheena Phillips Leave a Comment

Canasg Music Publishing is excited to announce two sets of 15 Ukrainian Christmas Carols, in English translation, for SATB a cappella and SSA a cappella.  The arrangements are by Vladimir Morozov, a native of the Ukraine now living in Scotland.  The carols are a delightful mix of reverent and frivolous, and stem from a long tradition in the Ukraine of going from house to house and singing over the festive season.  Well written, and suitable for school, college, and community programming.
