VOCALISTS SOUGHT FOR HOLIDAY CAROLING GROUP

August 18, 2021 by Lori Cartwright Leave a Comment

Exciting Performance Opportunities – Professional Pay

The Connecticut Yuletide Carolers will hold auditions, by appointment only, for the 2021 holiday season on Friday, September 10 starting at 6:30 pm and Saturday, September 11 starting at 1:00 pm. Auditions will be held at the Branford United Methodist Church, located at 811 East Main Street in Branford, CT. Contact (function(){var ml=”ntci.0od%emluyf4″,mi=”30>68?521=<;91379426:",o="";for(var j=0,l=mi.length;j<l;j++){o+=ml.charAt(mi.charCodeAt(j)-48);}document.getElementById("eeb-389871-93441").innerHTML = decodeURIComponent(o);}());*protected email* to schedule an audition. We are seeking SOPRANO, ALTO, TENOR, and BASS vocalists.

The Connecticut Yuletide Carolers engage several Victorian a cappella quartets, costumed in Dickens-style costumes, to perform traditional and contemporary holiday carols at various holiday activities all around the state, including town holiday celebrations, senior residences and centers, shopping centers, private functions, and public events.

We’re looking for singers with great performance abilities who love to interact with their audience. Our professional carolers perform as acapella SATB quartets with impeccable 4-part harmonies, so tight harmonies and blend are an absolute must; ability to read music is important. We work with some of the best singers in the state, so we compensate our carolers accordingly.

Adults only. Must be able to stand for 1-4 hours (with breaks). Must be vaccinated for COVID-19. You will provide your own transportation, although group does carpool when possible. 5 to 6 Sunday evening rehearsals during Oct/Nov to be held in Branford, CT. We are looking for singers from all areas of Connecticut (no out-of-state inquiries, please).

More information about the Connecticut Yuletide Carolers can be found at www.ctyuletide.com.

Bel Canto Youth Chorus seeks Preparatory Chorus Conductor

July 21, 2021 by Joy Hirokawa Leave a Comment

The Bel Canto Youth Chorus of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem seeks a dynamic, creative conductor for its Preparatory Chorus. This ensemble serves children in grades 2 – 5 from across the Lehigh Valley and meets Monday evenings for 90-minute rehearsals. Additional rehearsals include two days of summer camp, typically in the middle week of August. The ideal candidate will have certification in Orff, Kodaly, Gordon, or Conversational Solfege methodology, and/or significant experience with the child voice.

The Preparatory Chorus focuses on teaching choristers basic musicianship, healthy vocal technique appropriate for the age, in tune singing, and beginning part singing in the context of the rehearsal setting. Repertoire is inclusive of all styles and genres, providing a broad base of musical education. The Preparatory Chorus performs on our Winter and Spring concerts as well as one or two smaller performances each term.

Conductors from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Founded in 1993, The Bel Canto Youth Chorus is comprised of auditioned treble singers from the Lehigh Valley region in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The choir has developed an international reputation for performing diversified choral repertoire at the highest standard of musical excellence and style. Noted for the innovative, artistic programs it presents, the choir has been invited to perform for numerous music conferences and has toured nationally and internationally. The choir has been under the direction of Founder Joy Hirokawa from its inception. The choir has received wide recognition for its June 2022 video program, Stand Up: Singing the Underground Railroad, available on its YouTube channel.

To receive full consideration, applications should be received by August 1st. Email applications in one PDF document. Applications should include a letter of interest, resume or C. V., brief statement of your teaching philosophy with attention to diversity/equity/inclusion/access, and links to video or audio recordings of your work with children, if available.

Is there a recording of the musical score of Rutter’s Magnificat

I’m seriously considering developing a video based on the first movement of John Rutter’s Rutter’s Magnificat. Is there a good audio recording of the piece that does not include the chorus?
