Messiah (Watkins Shaw) Orchestra Score & Parts — professional bowings

April 29, 2016 by fjones4017comcast-net 1 Comment

Watkins Shaw Messiah Orch Score and full set of parts, used for one performance.  The score is in very good condition and completely clean except for two or three marks re chorus standing.  The parts are also in very good condition.

Parts include one original of each part (strings, 2 oboes, bassoons, trumpets, timpani) plus multiple copies of the string and bassoon parts for most of the movements.  String copies quantities are 5/4/3/3/2.  “Most” of the movements means virtually all of Part I and about half of Part III plus Hallelujah.  Professional bowings are done for all movements for which there are copies.  (Note: the original string parts were taken apart to make copies and to eliminate some awkward page turns — e.g., before “Glory to God” and relatively poor layouts for certain movements.  If you have a very large orchestra the layout and page turns are not as much of an issue… but most of us don’t.)  Some of the parts and copies have added notes from the musicians — which are often interesting and fortunately only occasionally sarcastic…

Looking to sell the materials for a reasonable price. Score and parts (new) cost $185; score alone is $114 and $90 for parts! Best rational offer wins. Questions welcome, usually.

Choir robes for sale

February 1, 2016 by Duncan Andrew Leave a Comment

Hi everyone – we have a nice set of used (but in good shape) blue choir robes for sale. Manufactured by “Regency” out of Jacksonville, FL. There are 136 total: 72 small; 35 medium; 29 large. These robes were originally intended for a youth choir of middle and high school students. About 10 of the robes will need some zipper repairs done. If you are interested, you will need to pick them up from our church or be willing to pay for the shipping in addition to the cost of the robes. This set would easily cost around $2,500 new. Asking $500 but willing to negotiate! Contact Andrew Duncan at 865-804-4721.
