Starting an 8-piece student-directed chamber choir at my school. Really excited, but having a hard time finding some pieces. Any good SSAATTBB pieces?
PS Prefer a cappella but not required thank you!February 8, 2020 at 8:48 am #614578Maggie FurtakParticipant
You might want to take a look at the Voces8 songbook here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/voces8-a-cappella-songbook-sheet-music/19905326
Are you aware of the Choralwiki? (cpdl.org) . I went to the site, hit the button for “multi-category search” and selected the options for 8 part music and a cappella and got back almost 1,000 results. You could refine the search by also selecting a time period: modern? medieval?, and secular or sacred music. http://www1.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Special:RunQuery/Multi-Category_Search
Using google with “cpdl” or “choralwiki” as one of your search terms might be an easier way to do this if you have something in particular you are looking for. Something like ‘”CPDL” “SSAATTBB” spring a cappella.’
If you are interested at all in sacred works, I have a double choir piece available for free download on CPDL on the “consider the lilies of the field” text. https://youtu.be/dEDZsNehG7E
Have a blast!!

Lotti’s Crucifixus a 8 springs to mind (http://www0.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Crucifixus_a_8_(Antonio_Lotti)), as does much of the great Russian choral repertory, crowned by Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil (http://www.musicarussica.com/collections/ra-anv); No. 6, “Bogoroditse Devo,” the one everyone knows and one of the easiest, is SAATTBB.February 23, 2020 at 7:12 pm #616031Carl FerraraParticipant
If you can ALSO get your hands on a children’s choir, there’s a spectacular arrangement of Marta Keen’s “Homeward Bound” by McKay Crockett for 8-pt choir and 3 part treble choir.
