Trying to put together a spring concert rep and I want to theme this performance. Any ideas?April 13, 2017 at 7:29 am #535906Michael A. GrayParticipant
Maybe take a look at the pieces you really want to do, see what they have in common and weave a theme around that. Or, perhaps, you might consider going without it this time. I love programming a themed concert (still do) but gave up the practice myself when I realized that everyone was attending for the great music and my “ingenious” picks were just limiting what they could experience.
Hope that helps!

A group I sang with once put on a very successful program called “Wine, Women and Song.” The pieces we sang were themed around drinking (a lot of opera choruses), love (we did a fair amount of musical theater arrangements) and music in general (so much to choose from – Jenni Brandon’s Make Music Sweet, or It’s a Grand Night for Singing, or even some Lloyd Webber).April 15, 2017 at 7:12 pm #535957Dinah HaagParticipant
Taking off on Mr. Gray’s idea, you could call it a playlist: The 8th Grade Playlist
The Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water
Cruisin’ Car Songs, or Cruisin’ Boat Songs
A Night at the Movies
“A Thousand Years”
“Nine Hundred Miles”
