I am looking to know if brass quintet arrangements exist out in the world somewhere for any portion of the final movement of the Beethoven 9th symphony. And I’m looking for any transcription of the Pinkham Christmas Cantata for a single brass quintet or quartet as opposed to the double brass choir that it is scored for. I do see that an organ could be used in place of the 2nd brass choir, so that’s a start.
Any advice, experience, resources to offer?

There are many arrangements for brass quintets (different configurations) of excerpts from the final mvt of Beethoven’s Ninth symphony. See for instance one by David R. Thomas, published 2008 by BVD Press. Another by Steve Le Bel, for horn, trombone, two trumpets and tuba. Another one by Arthur Frackenpohl. And I am sure others can suggest many more. Good luck!August 8, 2019 at 8:59 am #595776
I can’t help with the Beethoven, but I’ve done the Pinkham many times using the option of having the organ play one of the brass choirs. It works well that way.
